No IV Congresso da SPCAL, foi assinado o Acordo de Transparência para a experimentação animal em Portugal. O mesmo é uma iniciativa conjunta a EARA-European Animal Research Association e da SPCAL, visando congregar todas as Instituições de Ensino e Investigação Portuguesas que utilizam animais de laboratório. O intuito do Acordo de Transparência, assinado pelas 16 principais instituições científicas nacionais, é melhorar a comunicação com o público em geral acerca da utilização de animais de laboratório para fins científicos, tornando-a mais transparente e cientificamente assertiva. 

The launching of the initiative was made by:

- Dr. Sara Carneiro Fernandes, legal adviser and member of the National Jurisdiction Council of the People-Animal-Nature Party (PAN).
