This world day recalls the value of all animals already used in scientific research whose results allow the development of scientific knowledge, diagnoses and treatments, contributing to the health and quality of life of people and animals.
SPCAL takes the opportunity to reiterate the relevance of animal experimentation that is still necessary, as well as the investment in researching alternative models to animals and methodologies that allow reducing the number of animals used for scientific purposes, in a constant application of the principle of Russell and Burch's 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement) integrated into a Culture of Care.
Pursuing the mission it has committed to, SPCAL will continue to do everything in its power to contribute to the well-being of laboratory animals by promoting training and a culture of care among all institutions and individuals with whom we have the privilege of contacting.
